97 Neon head light stay on
Hello all
I have a 97 neon my daytime running lights are staying on after I shut the car off pull up the emerg. brake and turn off my lights. I have to remove the fuse from under the hood.I think it's my DRL relay/module. I also belive it is getting fried when I put the fuse in and drive the car starts filling up with a vapour that smells like burning electrical components(lige if your stereo fried. Not burning wires).I bought the hanes book it dosen't have the location anywhere in it that I can see. I took all my dash apart did not find any fried or shorted components. If anyone can help that would be great.

P.S.
Not sure if it matters but it's a Canadian car.

I am pretty sure you don't have daytime running lights, I have a 98 and don't have them. You deffinatly have a short somewhere. I would look at the switch for the headlights if they are not going off. Unfourtunatly the only way to really find a short is to trace the wire with a multimeter.
it might not be a short it could be a relay or switch not working correctly... you have to elminate each thing one by one.. i t hink if it was short he would have arching or the lights prolly wouldn't work at all.
Not trying to be rude but I do have daytime running lights. I'm not refering to lights on the lower part of the car I'm talking about lights that come on when you start your car that are like 1/3 the power so you are more visible during the day. I was on the phone with Dodge the daytime running light module is $170.00 for my car but I'm not going to spend that kind of money until I know if it's the problem. My problem is I have no Idea where the part is on the car.
