air filter help!!!!
hello fellows, i got a problem now, i made a custom intake for racing, the intake cannot use an air filter, but i didnt take in count that my car when i take out the air filter, the "check engine" light turn on, and the car start to fail out, so what can i do for that?? cuz i wanna race with that intake!
you gotta remember that if you are putting more air into your motor you have to have plenty of fuel to put into your engine. Also you need spark that is how motors work... You say it is a custom made intake where is it located at? I would never run a car without a air filter nothing but problems...you gotta remember that there is dirt everywhere even at the track.
yeah i know but, i saw a car improving like 5hp without air filter, and i need that hp lol, i have a race with a civic si, and a mustang, so please help me!!!, im improving the engine porting a polishing the head, using a 76mm tb, the filter its located on the left headlight, i modify the headlight like on the hondas!! hehehe i wanna win... so help me with that problem!!! please!

okay there is no way your flowing that 76mm tb, even with a p&p head 60 is about as big as you want to go, too big a tb can also hurt performance. I know you want to win, but if you are running the intake like the way the hondas do, your looking for the engine to fail, I know you know this, but why chance it, all the hondas that run like that at a drag strip most of them end up breaking, you can suck in alot of crap, just run a k&n type, the best filters on the market. I know theres not to much room in the 1gens, but a tuned intake will help better then your custom one, unless they dyno tested the length, I know Indy made in take your these cars with a heat shield. Do you have anyway of controlling your f-350 inj? If you dont get one, that would be the best way to max them out, do you have a w/b? if so what are your a/fr's?
moparmatt i still have my f350 inj, nut iunno what its w/b and a/fr's sorry, well i made calcs and using that tb its like using itbs, cuz i gonna make a customs intake manifold, so that its no big deal, i just want to know what can i do for that fail on my car without filter!
oh okay, a w/b= wide band gauge, a/fr= air fuel ratio, its what the wide band measures. Well if your calcs were what they are, cool, I just dont see it custom intake or not but hey its all good, if it works it works. You need to get something to controll those inj with, to better fine tune them to get the most power out of them, cause if they are making you run really rich, thats not good, need to lean them out a bit, but you need a wide band to see what they are doing to your exhaust.
