The bolt pattern is not the real issue. The location of the starter on a neon is in the front, below the intake manifold. The older 2.5L have the starter positioned in the rear of the engine, below the exhaust manifold. You will have to fabricate something to overcome this obstacle.

 

isnt a 2.5 a 6cyl motor and wont bolt up to a neon tranny i thought the biggest 4cyl was the 2.4

 

no there is a 2.5L 4cyl i found one here for 300 bucks and i just found a tranny plus i am going to ge the trany with car for 300 bucks now to just make it fit into the neon.
