sohc and dohc dont make a difference with autos....manuals will all work, but there are 3 different gear ratios

 

ok so would that also mean the auto trannys and manual tranny are the same? like could i put an auto tranny on a manual and visa versa like are 95-99 trannys pretty much universal

 

all universal....

as long as you understand what all else would be needed, any 95-99 neon tranny will bolt right up to any 95-99 neon engine

The 2G 1996-1999 eclipse mtx has the hydraulic bell housing and clutch mechanism also used on 2G 2001 + 2005 mtx neons/pt cruiser. The gears, however, and the same used in the 1G 1995-1995 neon acr & r/t. The transmission cn be used in a neon, by swapping out the hydraulic bell housing and using a cable bell housing in its place.
