Turbo for dummies
ok i know this has been done a million times and i searched and searched but im still a little puzzled on a few things so if its not a big deal can i get a few questions answered ok i own a 95 sohc mtx and have a donor 98 dohc atx what all exactly do i need off this car? and as for turbo i have a greddy type s bov and a rev hard intercooler garrett turbo and hahn turbo manifold i know i need a piping and i need a missing link, on that note where does that go? where it plug in at? and as for fuel, what do i HAVE to do im goin to run 8 psi so whats the minimum i can do? as for this spool boy mod, what is it? im mechanically inclinded and can do all the work jus new to neons and want to do it all right the first time and not have it all rigged up
sppol boy mod is modifying the fuel pump adding a extraline for fuel return..
whats wrong with the dohc engine? keep the trans from the 95 use the whole engind and swith over the wiring harnes as the 95 is wored differently then the 98.. also need a ecu from a 98 for a mtx... youll need a clutch for a 98 also.. wont matter the trans as they are all the same to 2000. mid 2000 the went to a hyralic clutch. what i wanna know is are you doing the srt4 turbo setup or this one....

well because the 98 has a spun rod bearing and the car is in horrible shape i plan on using the head an intake off an eclipse for a side mounted tb and get a 3.94 my 98 dohc is atx.... i dont mind splicing wires and yeah i know i need a dohc pcm/ecu same thing and no im doin 2.0 on 8psi new pistons forged rods underdrive and overdrive pulleys hahn manifold from a 420a eclipse type rs bov rev hard fmic and ebay piping aem fuel regulator aem wideband o2 gauge walboro 255 with spool boy obviously and srt injectors
you cant use the head from a eclipse... the head is backwards from a regular eclipse(if i remember correctly) the blocks are the same though.. a dohc head on a sohc bottom end i think lowers the compression(been awhile) and dohc pistons with a sohc head raises compression...... and if you use srt4 injctors get the stage 1s right away as they will be a little easier to get to idle right with the aem regulator
no i actually up graded that to different fittings and such and used it in my car..... their both simple to install. the missing link stops the map sensor from seeing boost.. the voltage clamp is just that stops the ecu from registering boost and freaking out. wires to your map sensor and stop the map from seeing over 5 volts...

in my opinion its one less part to fail in the turbo plumbing.. thats my .02 but i never said the missing link wnt work.... if you find one cheap use it. but honestly with a little reading you could go full ms for the price of a full fuel system using the rrfpr
