Default 96 Neon Clicking in Dash

When the doors are closed, dome light off, there is a clicking noise from behind the gage cluster. When I remove the gage cluster it stops. I pulled the fuse for the interrior lights and it stops. This is new, it started yesterday.

The clicking noise sounds like a typical relay. Pulling the instrument cluster and it quits indicates it is on that board, but off the top of my head I don't know what relay is on the cluster that could be the one. I assume that you put the cluster back in before you pulled the fuse, so it could also be a relay that is on that circuit.

I was looking at the wiring diagram last night, but then I realized that I did not know for sure which fuse you pulled. You said interior lights, but I wanted to be sure. Can you give me the Fuse # of the one you pulled that stopped the clicking?

I assume that you put the instrument cluster back in with the fuse still pulled and the clicking did not return, but if not, try that.

sounds like the door switches are bad. I am not for sure if it matters with the doors closed or not, I know most commonly it
buzzes or Clicks" with the doors open though.

My son took the car back to school. I will see him this week and will check the door switches. Thank you
