his is a 97, so that means 2nd gen, doesn't it? actually...I just found this: Check this one
It details the exact changes needed for him to replace his 2G engine with a 1G. It states that his 97 is a 2G, so I'm assuming he still wants to replace it with the 4g63 engine or header (still not sure which). Last night he went off on some tangent about how his engine was "DSM" and it could demolish mine? He's still got a 420a with no mods as of right now, and as Radar stated, his head still makes less HP than mine. And doesn't "DSM" refer to Domestic Standard Market or something? That doesn't have one thing to do with the engine does it? SIGH!!!!!!!!!

All 2.0 1st gen eclipses, turbo and non-turbi use the mitsubishi built motor (4g63), it wasnt untill the 2nd gen that they began using the chrysler built 420a in the non turbo models, which in retrospect, if you have ever worked on a non-turbo 2nd gen eclipse, makes no sense at all.
