won't start

RE: won't start
The problem with your car is the timing belt has jumped a couple of teeth, or the cam gear alignment pin has sheared and allowed the cam gear to slip a few degrees. When this happens, the cam sensor and crank sensor are not "synched" properly. This confuses the PCM and it will in turn only fire one coil and the vehicle will not start. If you have access to a capable scan tool, you can prove the coil is good by firing the coils with a scan tool. You will most likley find a code P1390 and/or P1391 stored in memory, or maybe even a P0320 or P0340.
If you know someone with a lab scope, you can dual trace and cam sensor and crank sensor patterns to prove the cam to crank alignment is incorrect. However, it is easier to just remove the timing cover and check the timng marks on this engine. If the timing marks line up, remove the cam gear and check for a broken dowel pin.
