Yeah I know so many 1st gen and 2nd gens that run 17 and 18s and never had any problems with them safety wise and alot are performance and some are shows but most are daily driver neons. I had some 17s on my 1st gens and I think they were 205s/40 on the one and on the r/t I think they were like 215/35 was yrs ago so really dont remember never hurt either and I had turbo in the r/t and the other one was for show.

 

no you shouldnt tint your windows so you cant see at night, come on are you crazy?
and its not just rubber blowouts how about the extra leverage applied to your wheel studs and brakes, do you honestly think theres no effect?

go ahead and put all the coffee can mufflers and air intakes on you want, as these just make your car obnoxious, but not unsafe.
Monkey with wheels and most have no Idea as to what they are really doing( all they know is "they look good") what a joke.

I myself have seen enough cracked "aftermarket" wheels to fill a dumpster.
at my inspection center we would turn you away without a safety certificate.
2/3rds of the wheels for sale arent even DOT approved.

do you go running in shoes 2 sizes too large? do your jeans droop cuz its cool to wear pants 3 sizes to large?

 

I think if everyone ran with the little tires and wheels for there neons or other rides what would be the fun of lookin at the same size wheels and tires on everyones ride most like to do what they want and dont really care what others think . 17s and 18s look so much better than little 14s and 15s that come stock for the 1st gen and 2nd gen. those kind of mufflers and intakes are not at all obnoxious maybe to you but to others they love the sound.

Engineers spend countless hours to mkake your car safe not just for you but everyone around you, why **** on their efforts for the sake of cool?

the afetrmarket pipes are obnoxious but since no-ones ever been killed by noisy exhausts I have no objection to them other than the sound. Not a safety concern IMHO

 

I have never heard of anyone getting hurt because of them having 17s or 18s on there neons . I only heard of anyone dieing from street racing . Doesnt hurt to have 17s or 18s on your neons seeing over tons and tons and tons do.

i have 17's on my neon, and i've been using some nitto 205/40's for over a year now. i love them and they've worn nicely.

 

sound like a lot of non-sence here. "rims" you get what you pay for.

 

Most neons any yr and model run with 17s almost none run with stock size anymore maybe a few run with 16s like mine. Most pay to have a wheel and tire package from the tire places online or there town. Everyone has there own idea of what they want to run for tires and wheels and what size.

 

and just because they come stock on a car does not mean the wheels are safe.
