when i put the rockers back on the head, they dont sit level due to the position of the lifters. How am i supposed to fasten the bolts down?

cant u turn your crank? Ur cylinder head is on the engine, right. Your not sposed to tighten until its attached or so i would think.

yeah i figured that out now. you just put it back on the engine, turn the crank to 3 notches before tdc... and torque the bolts. this way only one rod will actually lay flat... but the lifters is whats holding the other from staying flat. so you just torque the bolts, and the lifter is kinda like a spring or spring loaded for lack of a better explanation. hwen you tighten them, they end up laying flat. My dad had to explain this one to me. Im new at internal engine work. ive swapped a million sr20's(nissan), but never actually ripped one open.

is it the sr20det? black top or redtop? I used to live in japan, i had the nissan silvia s14, which is the jap version of the 95 and newer 240sx. it had a blacktop sr20det. that engine was bulletproof. cost me 500$ from a junkyard.
