I dissabmled the reservoir, washed it, and discovered the filler cap leaks.

Does it mean air could get into coolant circulation from there?

Well, I decided to just rewire the radiator fans with an adjustable radiator temp controller. $25 for the controller with probe and about $3 for the wire connectors and wires and the fans work just fine now. Thanks for everyone's help.

My dad's neon had this same problem and it wasn't the head gasket. It ended up being that the heater hoses had hairline cracks. Spent 2 dollars and 1 year later its just fine.

My Lincoln started to lose coolant. I went to Autozone (mine isn't one of the retard filled ones) and rented/borrowed for free after returning it, the Coolant System Pressure Tester. I tested it and it turned out that my cap was only holding pressure at 13psi and I needed 18. I bough t a new cap up at the Lincoln Dealership for $9 and its been working great since, with no leaks. That was 3 months ago.

Good Luck on diagnosing the problem, but a pressure test is a great start. BTW, the tester looks and works like the p-nis pump from Austin Powers.
