in reading why my neon wont start, even with fire and fuel and air, i came across an article that since my chech engine light is out or broken(does not come on when i first turn keys on) that it could be keeping my car from starting? any truth to this...

 

The check engine light wont keep your car from starting, it will however tell you something is wrong.

Do you think the battery might be dead?
Does the car turn over?

ur check engine light may be burnt out

 

No CEL could mean no communication with the ECU. But since you have spark and fuel I doubt that. Car needs 3 things to run, accurate fuel pressure and volume, timed spark, and compression.
