Default headers

Just got a 95 sohc for a song. Literally. Bored throttle body on the way and I still can't find any headers I like. I would like to find something like the DC Sports I had on my last Honda. Oh, by the way, I think Pacesetters are junk. Any suggestions other than that would be appreciated.

ANYTHING NOT PAINTED lol, my opinion. I have heard the pacesetters suck too. I'm looking at the Chikara header (or however the f you spell it), and not the painted one, they have a stanless steel one I saw in JCWhitney. Chikara is made by headmen and they have been a good product for a long time. I've also heard that the Kirk Racing Header is good. Some places that sell it say that some cutting and wielding is needed but casper from this site has it and said he didn't have to do any of that.

Isn't that TTI? I have the pacesetter, its not a whole lot different than the stock manifold. I just used it as a way to get myself to get under her and also take off the cat.

With the pacesetter and no cat my exhaust note is a lot louder than with my manifold/cat, tho I do have just a fart can.

Do you want a header just so you can put "i/h/e" in your sig? or are you actually looking for performance?

The Chikara has no better gains than a polished stock manifold.

The PaceSetter, TTI short-tube, and Mopar headers don't require relocation of the cat, which means they are (last I checked) 50-state legal. Still requires cutting of the piping a tad. Not very impressive gains, although one of the 5 or so n/a SOHC's in the 13's (full interior as well) is using a PS, so it can't be all bad... Poor build quality, easily fixed with some welding and a grinder...

The TTI mid tube is the only one in it's length-range that I know of. Definitely requires relocation of the cat, which violates federal law.

Kirk, AFX, and TTI still have long-tube headers on the market (pretty much assume you're going to eliminate the cat at this point, definitely 50-state illegal...). Of the 3, only the TTI uses a 4-2-1 collector where the others are still using a dump collector. None are using bigger than 1-5/8" piping for the primaries though, so that rules them out for well built engines.

Used Blackdog, Fast Fabs (with merge collector), and R/T Ernie's custom jobs are the way to go for real performance. Difficult to find, and typically run $350+ (used), particularly for the BDMS ones.

Best of luck!

the stat im from you can relocate or even eliminate the car as long as you pass emissions it's not about where it is as long as it works i mandrel bend all my exhaust with no cats and still pass emissions tho i inspect the car myslef lol. I have pacesetters on my 88 accord and they helped out a bit i do agree about the weilding tho they tend to let go fairly quick

Big news, the South lost the Civil War. Because of that, the states can't override Federal Laws whenever they want.

Emissions laws are Federal Regulations. The laws having to do with moving or relocating the cat are part of these laws. There is not a single state in the Union that can tell their constituents that it's Okie Dokie to break Federal law as long as it's done in their state. Your state may not require a physical inspection as part of their state emissions testing program. That's different...

FYI: Chikara headers are made by pace setter. I've had 2 nice headers on my neons. My 96 ACR has a Long tube from AF/X and my 98 and a stainless shorty that I picked up on ebay. Each one had good gains, but the Long tube was painted, and looked nasty after the first time it got hot.
