tranny swap help!
I have a 1995 dodge neon and have swapped auto to manual and have a problem.I have the car back together but will not start. The motor will not turn over or even click.Checked all wiring and battery and pcm(all fine) and the only code I get is 12 for battery disconnect.
Any advice?
I am new to the forum and need some help.

Welcome to DF. This is the place to come for getting ideas, checking out other peoples rides, asking questions and sharing knowledge. Lots of good people here. Glad to have you aboard.
There are plenty of Neon guys around who will be glad to try and help. You might want to post your troubles in the Neon section.

pressed for time right now but how did you go about dealing with the nuetral safety switch? If you didn't address that your car will not start. You could try crossing the starter terminals and see if it starts (make sure it's in neutral). Gotta go, I'll check back later.
I have tried to figure out how to do that but no luck. The car is in neutral but it seems that the computer does not know that, I messed with the sensor but cannot figure it out.I crossed the terminals at first and the starter does spin but does not turn the motor.
Thanks for your reply.

The neutral safety switch should be at the clutch pedal, so the clutch pedal would have to be pressed in to start the car. I shorted mine together for my remote start setup to work, might want to give that a try. Are you saying now that you can get the starter to spin, but it isn't engaging? More details on the swap?
My car is not wired for a manual so there is so switch for the clutch pedal. There is a switch for the auto tranny to be in park and think that is the problem but I can't figure out how to get around that switch.I have been told that since my car is not wired for a manual it should be able to start without the clutch in but need to figure out the switch for the auto tranny.
I can bump the terminals together and the starter turns but the ignition will not turn anything. When you turn the key on you can hear the fuel pump come on and the gauges work but when you turn to the start position I get nothing.?

I haven't had the pleasure of dealing with the auto's park/neutral safety switch... Don't know if there's 2 seperate switches and whether they would have to be jumpered to get it to work. That's the most likely problem though. I can't think of anything else that would cause the starter to not turn over when you take the key to "Start"...
I FINALLY found out the problem. When you change to a manual you must bypass the neutral start switch which is what I thought at first. To bypass the switch all you have to do is take the sensor off the tranny and plug it in the wiring harness and there is a small metal ball on the tip of it and you ground it to frame.I plugged the sensor in to the harness b/c the sensor is actually like a plunger and I wired through the firewall and mounted it to the clutch pedal assembly to act as the clutch start switch(works great, the car will not start until you push the clutch in to ground the sensor).Just in case someone needs help if swapping.Everything was easy to swap out but the sensor was confusing.
