Default Need a cat, better performance options?

I'd like to get something more performance based since I am replacing the cat anyways. Autozone has an oem replacement for $140 but would spend more if it would free up airflow. I was looking at long tubes but everyone seems to say the car will sound like crap after.

Currently the car has the below:

Mopar Performance PCM
Dynomax Cat-Back
Iceman Intake

Thoughts?

Magnaflow offers high-flow cats. As does Flowmaster. Both right around $100. Check summit racing as they carry many aftermarket converters.

If your shooting for direct fit you may as well stick with factory seeings without increasing piping size your not going to gain anything with a performance cat.

Go to www.summitracing.com and have a look.

My opinion if you want performance, Get a Header and run a full exhaust system, it would complement your other mods well.

Isn't the Dynomax cat-back a larger pipe? Is there a larger down-pipe that would go nice with it?

Not sure, it's been a while since I've dabbled in neons. Check with dynomax, they may make a downpipe with or without cat to mate to your exhaust.

A quality high flow catalytic converter is ideal. Finding a cat the is legal in California is a good place to start.

If he lives in CA?
We for instance have no emissions testing, so as long as your exhaust isn't loud there is no need to even put one on.

I do not live in California. Wanted a better quality cat on my car, along with better performance from having a 2.5" high flow cat. Running a lth and larger piping, so so this was on the shopping llist. If California approves it, the quality should be better. No cat exhaust fumes are rather unpleasant. To each his own.

Personally the smell of a well tuned car with a catless exhaust is golden.
Not sure why you'd be smelling them enough to decide they're unpleasant?
But yes, to each his own.
