Default 1998 2.0 DOHC wont stay running unless foot on gas, overfueling

Was driving today and car started to sputter a little at redlight, at the next light I push in the clutch and car died instantly. Initially thought it was out of gas but that's not the issue, no vaccum leaks etc but it will only start and run if you have your foot on the gas, and when it does run it misfires badly and smell's like lots of unburnt gas going out the tailpipe so seems to be overfueling.

Any possible suggestion on what it might be before I start digging?
Only code is random misfire which has been on forever.

Obvious things first. Tune up, air filter, MAF, IAC, etc.
