magnum head on a 1996 dodge neon sohc
hey what year and modelneon have the magnum head to fit on my 96 neon ? i heardthey flow just as much air as a race ported stock 96 head. and is it a direct bolt on ? what all i need to get the head on . right now my motor is completely dissassembled . bare block . i have 2 engines ones put together all it needs is the exhaust lifters and valve cover and the other is completely down to the bare blck . i'm building it up for a hahn racecraft urbo . i figured the magnum head is the best way to go . any help is greatly appeciated.

The Magnum head is referring to the 2001-up R/T or ACR. Yes, it will bolt right up, but you will not be able to use the EGR (unless you happen to find one set up for it, very rare). The exhaust ports are the major difference as far as the head goes. The intake ports are identical to the regular SOHC head. Your stock SOHC intake and exhaust manifolds will bolt right up, but using a sotck SOHC exhaust manifold on the Magnum head is a waste. You can use the Magnum exhaust manifold, but you'll have to play around with cutting, welding, and adapters to attach to the rest of the piping.
The 1995 camshaft is good for 4 HP above the '96-05 regular SOHC camshafts. The 2002-up Magnum cam is good for another 2-4 beyond that, and the 2001 Magnum cam another 2+ above that.
You can use the Magnum intake manifold (dual runner design) as well for even better results. you'll have to switch to a 2nd gen starter, and you'll have to rig up a way to get the butterflies on the runners to open/close at the right times.
Best of luck!
