All neons other than the SRT-4 top out at between 120 and 122 because of the speed limiter in the PCM.

It's called a Governor!!
Actually a govener is a mechanical limiter. The neon is limited electroniclly, if you disconnect the speed sensor you have unlimited top speed. Obviouslly you are gonna be limited by wind resistance and HP, but the skys the limit.
Actually how soon your motor blows up is the limit.
Very true, let me rephrase, with mods the skys the limit. Obviouslly there is more involved to make a car fast than to just remove a limiter, I wish it was that easy, lol.

The speed limiter is set at 118 mph on most Neons to go along with the factory issued "T" rated tires. The R/T and ACR got a higher limiter at 130 mph to go with the stock "H" rated tires. The Mopar PCM raised the speed limiter substantially, to the point that 99% of owners would never have to worry about hitting it.

You don't need mods to hit the stock limiter in either case. Top speed is a very poor indicator of a vehicle's performance. It seems to be that an individual's top speed in a car is inversely proportional to their IQ though. So at least it's good for something.

I would rather be there, its 80 or 90 depending on what highway you are on. Although I do have to say, unless you are a real *** they don't really enforce it. I have been pulled over twice doing 85/90 in a 55 and I only got a $200 and change ticket.
