Do you want to do a motor swap or bolt ons? To do a swap, you need a motor to swap in. You can use a 2.0L, 2.4L, or a 2.4L turbo motor. If you are looking for bolt ons refer to the thread at the top of the page "How to make my 1st gen faster"

Are you trying to say that the SOHC Neons are faster than the DOHC Neons?[sm=huh.gif][sm=icon_beat.gif] The DOHC is faster and better than the SOHC in stock and modified form.

Actually, the DOHC automatics were slower than the SOHC's in either form. Sucks having a peak power point above the tranny shift point, eh?

I will agree that the DOHC is the better engine to modify. There's only so much lift you can get with the SOHC, and you can't tune intake and exhaust seperately (obviously). In the end, those two factors make a massive difference.

I've never seen any times for an automatic backed DOHC, I've just seen their times based on the 5-spd. manuals. Either way, the DOHC is the faster of the two even though when backed by an automatic it may not be the quicker one.

OK so i have a automatic tranny in my 97 and to get more of the power ban in accelleration i shift it manually, turning 4500 or so before shifting it makes a great differance in time. Im not racing it though just enjoying the car.
I would prefer the five speed but this is what i have for now, I am looking for a two door with the five speed in it to play with and mod out a bit.

I dont plan on continuing to manual shift just got my street strip valve body in so no more manual shifting thanks for the info. I've heard they dont hold up to well to much abuse.
