I have been at this car for a few weeks now. It’s a 97 neon 2.0 dohc and it doesn’t won’t to start. It has spark and gas, the thing is I changed the water pump for a new one I put the belt back on right, crank back a half a notch and the cam lines together and just turns over and wouldn’t start. It had some pursuer release when turning over .I burnt out starter so I got a new starter now. The codes are 12 54 55 but with a cam sensor saying not reading would it still start???? thanks for the help...[sm=confused06.gif]

It should start without the cam sensor signal. But I'd try to find out why it isn't getting that signal first. Without the cam signal, the injectors are going to batch fire (as opposed to sequential). I've started mine with the cam sensor disconnected, but that was on a nice warm day.
What do you mean by pressure release?

The pressure release is like back pressure from not starting up. I don’t have the alternator belt on or the air Condition belt in case I have to change the timing belt spot on the crank or cam but with those belts not on it shouldn’t make to much different in just to see it start up.

Yea so I took my value cover off and there was the problem the values were bent and the roller rocker were in pieces. So I went to the wrecker and got a new head that was all together so that was alright it cost me $50 and got a new timing belt so now it runs pretty good.[sm=bounceybounce.gif]
