What is it with New Sensors for 1st Gen Neons
What is the deal with 1st Gen Neons and trying to buy replacement Sensors??
Every Sensor I bought this past weekend including the coil pack requires a Pig Tail Adaptor!!
Sensors I dealt with this past weekend:
Cam Sensor - Requires a pig tail for my model car
Crank Sensor - Requires a pig tail for my model car
Coil Pack - Requires a pig tail for my model car
Oil Pressure sensor - Requires a pig tail for my model car
I started out at the dealer to get these parts - I got frustrated that the parts did not fit - I would give them the Make, Model, and VIN number for my car - the replacement parts did not connect up like my original parts - only to find they had a TSB to cut the old connector off and crimp in a new connector.
I even tried some of the local parts store - I tired Advance Auto, AutoZone, and O'Reilys - they had the one size fit all part - but no one had the pig tail in stock to make it fit on either of my Neons.
Should I be concern about getting parts for my 1st Gen Neon?
I have read on the forums that the Neon Engine is the same as other model cars.
That cant be right but Your probably right. If your haveing trouble with Neon parts, as far as the coil pack the Stratus one will work and mount right up.
I am positive - for my Neon - I had to buy pig tails to use the new model sensors for my 96 and 99 Neon.
I have not had to touch my 01 Neon yet
I will take pictures tomorrow if I can get a good shot of the pin outs for the Sensors and the new Adaptors.
but each sensor I bought - I had cut off my existing connector from the wire harness and install a new connector to plug into my new sensors for Coil Pack, Cam Sensor, and Crank Sensor.
I did not think about asking for a Stratus Coil Pack - I will try that tomorrow and see what they give me.
I will post pictures tomorrow.

Well Here are the Pic's!
And I have notice it is a one connector fits all world!!!
The PigTail Connector is the same connecter fitting for the New Crank Sensor, the New Cam Sensor, and the New Coil Pack.
And there are probably other sensors to follow!! I have not checked my Oil Pressure Sensor nor the O2 Sensor, or any other sensors yet!
I will be visiting my local dodge dealer for the TSB for this as I will need them for my race car to be legit for Show Room Stock Class!

How Long ago did you pick up a new Coil Pack?
I had picked up a new O2 Sensor, new Coil Pack, and new Oil Pressure Sensor back Oct or Nov of last year with no problems - Until this weekend when I started working on my 2nd Race Car.
I was wondering if this was something new for this year to have a single connector design for 95 thru 01 Neons?
It would kinda of make sense - you would not have to stock the same type of part for different year cars just because of a different connector.
Altough it would be a inconvenience for me since I try to have spare parts on hand when racing.
