Depending on other mods, I'd say 2-5HP. Get the welds reinforced just to be safe!

And get the god damn performce cam if you have a 96+ Neon, no mods will do a damn thing with out it. That should be the first thing any SMART Neon owner should do.

I have the pacesetter header on mine( got that one because I have the exhaust as well and liked it) , noticed some gains if you choose to get it, dont use the paper gasket they include, get a better one and get the ceramic coated one to help reduce heat as well as have the welds gone over again like das said

Well I guess I'm not a SMART owner nor are many neon owners. That is not the first thing to do, is upgrade your cam. I would not suggest that unless you know full well what direction you are going with the neon. There are many cams to choose from, is the ony reason I would say that.

What other headers would you guys suggest? Are there any others that are made for my car that are better/cheaper than stock?

It has the mpre agressive cam. Mopar actually started to sell it as a performance cam after the 95 year.

Pacesetter has shown the best improvements for the SOHC.

im sure that it couldnt be true about the cams....i dont see how there isnt any part out there that would make a difference without cams....it might be more noticeable, but you will still get gains without them

Many respectable people on this site, RararLove, GaryHowell, and Casper have said over and over again that they had put on many a performance part and have gotten no real gains from them untill after a cam swap.
