Do you want to physically remove the whole thing under the hood or do you just want to disconnect it? If you completely remove it you'll drop a few pounds but I don't think that it will make a huge difference. If you just unplug it I don't think that it will do anything at all. I have mine disconnected because the thing seized up, but it had no performance difference at all, but I wasn't expecting one. Hope I helped you, if not sorry buddy.

A/C and power steering rob power from the engine. It uses power to turn these accesories. It's easy to take everything off and will give you back some HP, not alot but some. The only negative is not having A/C when it's hot.

i took my pump, all the lines, and the condensor(front of radiator) off...then took the lines where they hooked to the firewall, cut the lines off with a hack saw, mounted the base of the lines back to the firewall, and filled the openings with hot glue........turned out fine, filled the holes so that dirt doesnt get in there incase i wanna replace the a/c one day......its just nice having less strain on the motor.....just a little more get up and go

Did you ever weigh the components to see what kind of weight you shaved off the front end or do you think it even makes a difference? I was thinking about pulling mine out but for right now I just disconnected the harness and cut the belt out. Would it be worth the work to pull it all out? Or does it even matter at that point?

Maybe the A/C doesn't weigh much by itself but if I relocate the battery and pull the A/C. Now that is some weight loss and minus the strain. Thats gotta help out a little bit right. A battery ain't light, I guessing if the A/C is 40 lbs. and the battery is around 25-30, I'm shedding close to the weight of a midget right off the front. Kinda like droppin' a deuce before you race. Know what I mean.

You can use a tractor battery (smaller and lighter) if you don't want to relocate the battery.
