What's wrong with the yellow top? I've never used the yellow one, but I have used the red top Optima. Is that one OK to use? I didn't really no that there was a difference? I'm probably working on it this weekend and would like to know before I buy the wrong parts. Thanks guys.

the yellow top is a deep cycle battery and can cause major problems if used to run the car offa(believe me, i know).....the yellow is ment to be used for stuff like competition stereos(with multiple batteries, usually in the trunk and hooked directly to the stereo only) or used for hydraulics.......the red one is a good one to run the car with...that would be your best choice

deep cycle batts: can go from full charge to low charge many times with out probs. called deep cycle 'cause of the wave patt as seen from an o-scope. most car batts have a shallower recharge cycle before going face up.

ive done this mod, get a good sealed battery box, and a good quality leak free battery. Sometime considerably more powerfull then stock is recommende. I mounted mine in the right corner of the trunk, used brackets to secure the box to the frame and then make sure the battery is secure inside the box and doesnt move at all. I used two apporox 20 feet 4guage wires, one to starter and one to power distribution box. thats it your done. You will notice about an extra half second extra in starting responce. You can go thicker guage also if u want, it'll only help.

Even sealed batteries vent gases, just an FYI. Go with a dry cell and there no worries. You can even mount them upside down if you like.
