Hey I got a quick Question for you guys that have underdrives.
I was wondering if I put a underdrive on my sohc if it will through off the ballance of the crank.
I dont know if the motor is internally balanced my dad said something throwing off the balance of the crank.
Also I was wondering if underdrives affect the cooling. They said that it will affect the way that the water pump works and will make the motor run hot.
He said that it will increasing the chance of blowing a head gasget.
Idk much about them I'm hoping you guys can tell me about them.
I heard they do alot for performance.
Any info would help

an underdrive shouldnt effect cooling because the water pump is ran off the timing belt, not the underdrive pulley...i havent had any problems with balancing since i put mine on

 

you will be able to run your A/C and other accesories just fine, and if you dont have the belts yet get the good ones, the cheap ones aren't as flexible as the cheap ones, I forget the brand I have but I didn't like the price of them till the difference between them and the cheap ones was explained to me.

 

Tell your dad the pulley doesn't balance the engine on the neon. This is true for some cars, but not the neon. It won't affect your car's cooling on anything esle. Only thing it will affect is acceleration

I have one more question.
If its not run of the same belt as the water pump wich belt is it run off because my ac belt is disconnected.

 

Most have two slots, one for the alternator and the other for power steering and A/C.

 

I dont understand?

 

The pulley will have 2 slots for belts.
