Default Hey all

Hey guys, Im 16 and just thought I'd drop by and say hello. "I" have a '98 neon sport, and of course by my neon I mean my grandfathers. I'll be driving soon ( gettin permit next week ) but I'll be driving my Mom's car, not the neon. But anyways since my Grandfather can't drive much longer we might sell it or I might get it just for fun although I'll probably get a new car eventually anyways. But if we were to sell it what would you guys consider a fair price? Its in fine condition, sport model, 32,XXX miles, Grandfather was the second owner ( I think ) and it was barely driven ( only on Wednesdays to foodtown-haha ). As a matter of facts it was driven so little that when he bought it in 2001 there was a sticker on it to get regular maintenance at 33, XXX miles, and its now 2006 and he still has'nt reached that mark yet- Haha.

If this fits better in the for sale section the feel free to move it.

Stick or auto? ?For a 98 in good condition with those low miles...I'd pay between $2500-$3000. Depending on color, options and whatnot. Got any pics? Man, it'd be sweet to get a neon for free

Auto but I cant say I blame my grandfather for gettin' an auto. I was going to try and convince him to mod it, but I dont think he'd go for that. Anyways its nothin special really, just good condition with low miles. I forgot which engine it has and not totally sure how to tell- Im great with everything on cars but the engine, but thats because I never had anything to practice on ( except for a trubred racecar, but I was around 10 and I couldnt figure out why the steering wheel came off back then) . I can try for some pics but its nothin awesome to look at. Its dark green and I hate green[:'(] but thats just me.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, it juts had recent work done to fix a blinker that stopped working.

Pop the hood and look at the valve cover...if it's blank it's a DOHC, if it says 2.0L 16 valve then it's a SOHC.

If it says 2.0L DOHC, then it's an Eclipse valve cover on the neon. No 1st gen neons came w/lettering on the valve cover, AFAIK.

Yeah it says 2.0L then 16V below it then DOHC above it. And what does AFAIK mean? As far as I know? And if it is then what does that mean? Stolen parts or soembody put a eclipse valve cover on it?

BUT it does have the Diamond star logo all over the engie ( That little pentagon with the star inside ) so maybe they used DSM parts or something? akak the eclipse parts?

Yes AFAIK means what you wrote. The eclipse valve cover fits on the DOHC neons and some people swap covers for the look.

No, it's 4 valves per cylinder.
