1996 neon frequent stalling
think about it this way: ALL tech on cars are about 20 years old. sounds jacked i know. by the time the tech comes out, it gets tested, run through the company(legal, manf peeps, production peeps) and so on it is OLD tech. NO BS, if you had the parts and tools you could build an a-bomb right now. don't let the NEW tech scare you, it's still a car. happy motoring.
i filled my car with gas opened the hood and started the car. it ran for 30 min then stalled .i then waited 5 min and started the car .and it ran for an hour and 10 min . i then closed the hood and the car stalled 15 min later .also i noticed now i dont have to wait until the engine completly cools. it will start up after 5 min and will run 110min with the hood opened
Sounds like I have about the same problem. I have a 1995 Dodge Neon that I can drive for about 15~20 minutes then start to lose power and eventually die. If I put the throttle to the floor it will prolong the dying but it will eventually die. If I stop the car and put it in park or neutral the car will rev up for a couple of seconds then back to idle for a few seconds, it will keep on doing this until it starts struggling and dies. If I let the car cool for 10 minutes or so it will start and run again for a few minuetes before stalling again. I have replaced the coil pack, spark plugs, wires, made sure the tank was full of gas, ran the car with less than a quarter tank of gas, ran the car without the cat, tried another pcm, put in a new fuel filter, unplugged the oxygen sensors. I am getting a good used fuel pump tomorrow, I am going to try that and check the egr valve. What grounds would I check or wires. The check engine light is burned out so I cannot look for codes. Any help would be appreciated.

2. Remove 4 screws from gauge cluster and pull out cluster
3. Look at the back, find the bulb, and pull it out and put in a new one.
Reinstall is the opposite of removal.
problem solved
i happened to find a site called automotive forum.com.and i read a post where someone was responding to a person who was having similar car problems he suggested looking at
the coil ,crankshaft sensor and another sensor .and he said those sensors can loose continuity when hot. i remembered what a mechanic had said to me that the main ground to my pcm was loosing continuity. i then had a mechanic install a crankshaft sensor .and i have driven the car for over an hour without it stalling.i drove it on the expressway and it ran fine . now i finnaly have a chance to drive the car without having to worry about if the car will shut off at a trafffic stop. or on the expressway now i feel i have a car
