You don't have to do anything to the alternator bracket to remove the exhaust manifold or install the header.
Removal:
1)Remove air cleaner assembly and bracket
2)remove manifold heat shield
3)remove O2 sensor
4)remove exhaust pipe from manifold
5)remove 8 exhaust bolts.

Install:
1)clean off old gasket material and install new gasket
2)set exhaust manifold and gasket in place. Apply Loctite 271 or equivalent to fasteners and tighten to 23 N·m (200 in. lbs.) starting at center and progressing outward in both directions. Repeat this procedure until all fasteners are at specified torque.
(3) Install exhaust manifold heat shield.
(4) Connect upstream heated oxygen sensor connector.
(5) Install air cleaner bracket and assembly.
(6) Attach exhaust pipe and tighten fasteners to 28 N·m (250 in. lbs.)

you do need to remove the alt. bracket because one of the manifold bolts is right behind it.....i have yet to find a way to get to the bolt without removing the bracket....unless you wanna spend alot of time with a wrench

once the alternator is removed.....there are 2 small bolts ontop of the bracket that hold the little splash shield on the bractet and then there are 2 bolts on the under side of the bracket that take it off

why do you need to remove the alt bracket to do the header? I had plenty of room to do mine without removing it.
