Sorry to bust into your thread and ask my own question... but it pertains.

Does the iceman come with the bypass valve? And how the heck can you get one for $150? (Just wondering on the second one.)

Ah, used is no big deal. Of course, $150 won't be around for a while... but who knows. I don't know that it's worth $150 used though.

Anyway... how much do the bypass valves cost anyway? $50-ish?

$150 used is a great deal and it is so worth it. You could get it a little cheaper if you just buy the tube, cut your tray and get your own K&N filter.

Hmm... So I put it back on yesterday and then my friend yelled at me. He's convinced that it gives a little (he said about 5) more HP, I guess his friend who owns a 95 manual Neon did it to his, which I bet is why he's so convinced. He knows a hell of a lot about cars though.

He said that since the "snorkel" is off the air gets to the filter quicker which saves time giving it more air or something like that... Can someone give me some hard evidence as to why that isn't true?

I have seen a Dyno sheet on a stock neon with and without the "snorkel" or fresh air inlet duct that showed no power gains whatsoever. 5HP is ridiculous to think that you could get that much with a free mod.

Believe me or your friend...doesn't matter to me. If he does believe it that much, then ask him to pay for a dyno run and compare the two. I bet you he doesn't do it

Haha thanks. I was telling him that I think the people on a Dodge Neon forum would know how the car works but he didn't want to believe it.

You get 1 HP if you remove the weather stripping from the back of the hood and thats more effective than removing the snorkel.
are you serious? lol...

I say if you said you felt a seat of the pants diffrence then leave it off. It may or may not actually do anything, but atleast it has a placebo affect lol.
