Default sohc to dohc done but.....

the senerio: I bought a 96 2.o neon that used to be a sohc 5 speed, it now has a dohc 98 2.o engine in it. the person that did the swap left the sohc pcm in there. it bogs and hesitates at 2k rpms. I went under the hood and hit the throttle and got some backfiring noises from the intake manifold. theres a sensor over top of the passenger side motor mount that is not hooked up, meaning the vac lines are not connected to it and the sensor plug was out. 1 vac lin is missing the other is hooked to the throttle body. its all fun for me because I'm learning as I go but I'd love to have some kind of guidence.

What I got from everyone so far is that I will need to get a 98 dohc mtx computer and harness to match the engine in order to make everything work properly. Some people say any dohc will work, atx, mtx. some say get a 96 dohc mtx pc. makes more sense to me to get the 98 2.o dohc mtx pc. If I had a shop i could do the testing, possible pcm pin swaps that i've read about and all that jazz but I dont and have to park on the street. I'm not afraid to yell, HELP,lol.

Get a PCM from 97-99 DOHC MTX and you can just plug it in and play!

Yes, but I was under the impression that he was going to change the harness as well.

I kinda figured that I would need to change the harness. I also read about someone swaping the pins around with the sohc harness. To keep the headaches to a minimum i will buy a harness to match the cpu. Does it matter whether its a 2.o or 2.4 dohc?
