I am wondering which is truely faster in 1995.
My car ran a 16.074 with a 2.395 60ft.
Not even power shifting!
All I had on my car at the time was a muffler, warm air intake, mount stiffeners, and short shifter.
I bet It could have run simmilar times stock.
It will be interesting to see what It runs with the updated mods, plus now that Im a better driver.
Im hoping I could now run like a 15.5 or 15.4
but back to topic which is truely faster. I think that the sohc had more torque right?
Has anyone ever truly tested it?

Also what else would I have to do to get my car into the 14s all motor.
(pcm,header,underdrive) would that do it?

 

i raced my friend in a 97/98 dohc when all i had was the DOHC muffler
he had a magnaflow muffler, ATX TB and an AEM intake
he beat me by basically a car lenght
but i could see why not with that ****in TB!

 

i raced a friend on the street a few years ago....he had a stock 2001 neon.....i had my old r/t that just had a CAI and a fart can....beat him by about 3 car lengthes.......it all depends on the driver....
i still say the DOHC is faster....especially in the top end

 

but You would think that the sohc would be faster on the bottom end?

 

Not by enough to make a difference in the end. DOHC makes better power later, than the SOHC.

 

Anyone know or have the power curv/dnyo chart of a stock SOHC motor? Thanks-

 

my 2 neons - 95 SOHC= DOG,... 96 DOHC, pretty impressive
the 95 wont even do a burnout reverse slamming it

 

not sure how reliable this is but heres a dyno sheet of the SOHC....
here we go...

by the way thats at the wheels

 

that dyno sheet makes me wonder if my timing belt on the sohc isnt off a tooth, i dont get a code, but its a complete tird untill about 4500 RPM then it comes on like a vtec honda & pulls pretty good in the top
