Battery light is on
You know, now that you mention it, when I changed my starter a few weeks ago, I had to remove the battery tray and I had trouble loosening the plate that hold the battery in place because the one underneath the tray would turn on its self. When I finaly removed the tray I remeber having to unplug a cable that was pluged underneath the batter tray. That could be a problem. Plus the problem started after I changed the starter. Cool, I'll check it out.
Thanks guys.
Thanks guys.
ok guys here's a little update. I got my hands on a load tester and my battery reads 11.5 volts when the car is off but it goes down to about 10.5 when I start the car. Once I start it, it should go up to about 14 so that means that the car is not charging. But my alternator was just rebuilt and the guy tested it befor he handed it over. Any thoughts?
when you changed the starter, did you forget to put all the wires on the stud with the positive cable? one comes from a different harness and hides under the starter sometimes when you disconnect it and you wont see it till you look close under it
from what I remember there are only 3 wires total. 1 is the the red positive, 1 is the ground that on the mounting bolt and the other is a cable with a connector. I don't remeber there being 2 cables on the red side of the starter but I'll check.
Thanks
Thanks
Well, I connected the second cable to the starter and guess what? no battery light!. SO I took it for a ride and what happens? Smoke all over the place. Luckily I was close to home, I have a look and it's leaking preston everywhere. I have a look under the hood and one hose broke. So I replaced two of them, then put everything back together and again, I get a check engine and a bettery light. This was an easy one, the battery sensor wasn't connected. OOPS. Once that was connected everything is working fine. No checkengine light or battery light so it's all good and she's back on the road!
Thanks for the help!
Thanks for the help!
thats good to hear, i hate when one thing after another happens, lol, i found my battery temp sensor dragging on teh road under my car yesterday, that explains why my battery blew the cap off & died, probly overcharged the hell out of it
