Hey guys. I have a 99 DOHC MTX. The Starter wouldn't turn so I got it rebuilt and I replaced it and the car started up fine. About a week after the battery light came on so I go my alternator rebuilt and replaced it. I started it up but the battery light is still on.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

well does the alternator charge? or is it rebuilt and not working... ive had a bad connection in my dash cluster make my charge light flicker,
or one of the wires to the alt is grounded causing the light to stay on

 

another one i thought of, make sure the plug on the alternator isnt corroded or the wires didnt break off, or burn in the harness close to the exhaust manifold

 

check fuses too..., i gottta start putting evrything in one post, damn

 

Ok, I'll check those. I guess at this point it's going to be a wireing problem. Are there any sensors along the way that check to see if the alternator is putting out power? I think I can get my hands on tester that connect to the battery to see if it's charging. It might just be the light in the dash that's not reacting normaly I guess.

 

Have you had a look at your battery temp sensor?

 

Actually no I havn't but the light will turn on even when the car hasn't been started for a day. The battery is only a year old as well.

 

Check it...it may be disconnected.

 

ok, do you have any idea where it's located. I checked on the diagrams in the stickies but I couldn't find it.

 

Its screwed into the battery tray on the radiator side of the battery. Looks like a black pea I guess you could say.
