2.4 Swap.... I need some advice!
I love this forum everyone on here has so much great advice. So once again I need more. I have a '99 Neon R/T and the engine is no longer any good. I have to replace it so I would like to replace it with a 2.4. Now the deal is I don't know where to order a new one or know anyone that would replace it. I live in Fort Worth Texas. So if anyone know where to go from here your help is needed. Thanks.

Try www.car-part for a 2.4 engine near you.

you can use a 2.4 motor from any of the following; 1995 to 2000 Stratus/Breeze/Cirrus, 1996-2000 Caravan/Voyager, 2001 up PT Cruiser/Stratus/Sebring. Realize that all the common install kits available utilize the right side engine motor bracket from a ’95 to 2000 Stratus/Breeze/Cirrus. All 2001 up 2.4 motors have a lightly different head port and manifold mounting configuration so you have to modify your intake and exhaust manifolds to use that motor. That does include the PT Cruiser. 2001 up also have a different oiling system and different oil filter locations. In Late 1996 the timing belt tensioner was changed so the later tensioner is preferred. Get your motor from a local wrecking yard.

RE: 2.4 Swap.... I need some advice!
yes you can use the engines listed by das.
pt head flows better, as well as having a better oiling system. Pt valvetrain is also superior.
neon head can work, but best setup is pt head with oversized valves.
2.4 cams and gears really hamper the swap. cheap alternative is using the 2.0 cams and rotating the cam magnet 90 degrees.
neon computer is used.
My swap runs like a champ. No one else on this board has the swap done iirc. Someone has a srt swap, but that's a different animal.
2.4 swap is easy.
