2.4 Turbo with the internals sounds like a good route, at least that way you could have some money left over for that tranny you want and some possible upgrades with enough left over maybe a bore job with better internals would be good, but with your one day or two time span the 2.4 turbo with internals would be best, a bore job wouldn't fit into your time frame unless you knew a shop that could do all that for you, if you really wana go with CF then your probably gona need more money if you do go the turbo/internal route, CF gets real expensive really quick, would probably be more managable with a dohc then some CF if your really wanting that. dont forget there are other ways to achieve a lighter car then CF

carbon fiber wont lighten up a neon very much at all....neon body panels are almost as light as you can get

I plan on going street racer with it, so a cold air intake and a turbo are planned
CAI and turbo's don't go together.

lol if it takes you a year to swap a car to SRT4 motor & trans your way to slow to be workin on cars at all
Do it and tell us how long it takes. Most people could only work on it over the weekend and such. Chances are no one on this site has a car prepped for turbo in the first place. There's more than just getting the engine into the engine bay. Even if you could get a complete engine, you'd still have to
a: rewire half the car with srt crap
b. wire in megasquirt.
a is going to take the average person an extensive period of time.
after seeing b done this past weekend, it's not as difficult as I had thought.
Then you still have to improve the fuel system to handle the turbo.
Bottom line is it's going to take a while. Then again I wouldn't half-*** it either.

option "A" i just gona suck, I don't know anyone who enjoys messing around with the harness, especialy to hunt down a short, so having to rewire for the srt would take me some serious time, because later if something to where happen with the wireing id be super pissed to have to trace down something that I could have probably prevented, and I wish I had the tools to put in an engine I wish I had the room to do all that I would have been had a spare engine to work on I don't wana shell the money out to rent a tool, and I really hate taking my car somewhere for a job that i know I could have done.

Ok I've read just about every post in the forum and I'm still confused! Keep in mind I'm not real familiar with the modern comdustion engine in these new fangled cars- J/K but here's it goes...

1. My engine has 138,000+ miles on it a messed up piston (piston rod and rocker arm are held by a screw, my screw is broken), not sure which one

2. I have about $3,000 at my disposale

3. Rebuild it or replace it ( we can rebuild you, make you faster, stronger, we have the technology! )

4. If replace, which engine would be the best?

5. THX!

I have a complete Dohc motor for sale in the classified section if your still looking for a motor.

Ok finally got internet back W00t! First I finally decided to rebuild back to factory then build from there. second I know CAI and turbo dont go together I ment CAI first then replace with turbo. third I ment CF for engine parts not panels if I wanted to lighten my car that way I'd rip out my back seats first! fourth just out of couriousity is it possible to make my front wheel drive neon rear wheel drive?

p.s. I DO want over 2.0, 2.4 is perfect but I'm actally looking into a hybid moter w/ a vortec top and an srt bottom
