The PCV valve doesn't hook up the air intake. The thing that connects to the air filter tube is a breather valve, not the PCV valve.

the pcv valve is the little rubber or plastic tube that come out of the valve cover and hooks to the intake manifold....there is a little plastic elbow on the hose that has a ballbearing in it...thats the valve
the little breather filter hooks onto the metal vent hose nipple on the valve cover...there would normally be a hose there that connects the valve cover to the bottom of the stock intake tube......
most cold air intakes and custom ones dont have the inlet for the vent hose on the valve cover....thats where the little breather filter comes in.....
a catch can is usually used on turbocharged engines......under high vaccum pressure the engine can suck oil out of that little valve cover vent valve and into the intake tube....the oil catch can goes inline between the valve and the intake tube to catch the oil before it gets into the intake......
the pcv valve has nothing to do with that little breather filter, or a catch can....and unless you put a turbo on your car, you shouldnt need the catch can

True you don't need an oil catch can, but they do help. I know some people who have installed one on their neon and it does catch some oil. The 95 neons had an oil seperator come stock.
Did they I have never noticed one on my 95 acr??. Where would it be ??.

i never knew what that was on my old 95....so when i stripped a bunch of 95's down i kept them all.....but later threw them away since i dont plan on ever getting another 95....i think a catch can is one more thing i have to put on my list
