A/C disconnect
OK so the winter is coming up and I know longer need the A/C so I plan on disconnecting it, my questions are will this cause my car to through a code and, will this help with my tensioner prob, for some reasong after a while my alt belt likes to get loose, and i know for a fact the the A/C is not doing its part( been running the heater) so now I just plan on running off the fans for the winter since it gets hot real hot, even when I have nothing on I can feel the heat through the vents and sometimes have to rolll down the window, do any of you have hella heat like that? anyways, will skipping the A/C help out with the Alt belt I figured it would since it would have extra help to pull vs the A/C slacking off. any help would be appreciated. thanks for the replies in advance.
i dont see it helping the alt. belt out much at all....
my heat is insane in the winter.....just remember, you cant turn off the heat, lowest it can go is on fan, therefore the faster you drive the more heat that blows out.....
disconnecting a/c wont throw any codes....just unplug it and remove the belt...unless your completely gonna remove it

hm thanks for the info, im aware of the heat issue at high speeds lol, thats why I keep a sweater in the car and a shirt. my heat is insane now, my friends call it hella heat, im just gona disconnect and use a diff belt, Im gona leave it there for next summer. save me the time and hassle of later install, ill just wrap up the connections for protection, thanks spud
BTW, there's 2 belts driven off the crankshaft. One for the alternator, and the other belt drives the A/C and the PWR steering pump. So therefore, the A/C should have nothing to do with the problem you're having with your alternator.
a/c doesnt drag on it at all unless its on,... or defrost is on, other than that your gonna waste your time, its nice to have the a/c compressor run when defrost is on to take the moisture out of the air and keep the fog off the windows... especially when its raining
i have to tighten my alt belt ever month or even more often, its a new belt so i expect some stretch till it gets some miles on it
your a/c isnt gonna do jack for that

yeah i know that 2 belts are driven off of the crankshaft, but I wanted to avoid the A/C compressor completely because I believe that to be part of the problem both belts being tight and it still wants to sqeal ive even used the soap method. which leads me to believe somewhere some bearings are going out, im just not sure where. part thinks its the Compressor and the other part thinks Crankshaft, buth then again for some reason my P/S likes to slip some causing the P/S belt to become loose, any Ideas?

a possible thought but how? I remember when my alt belt would shred all the time and my P/S belt would flip over on the opposite side so I had the undrive replaced which stoped the roll over but the P/S still wants to slip down some causing some serious slack in the belt but no role over, im probably gona end up replacing all of the pulley's
check all the way around the p/s pulley and try to see if there is any little nicks in it or a slight wobble.....maybe the underdrive pulley isnt tightened on all the way...
