Put the cluster in the car without the plastic covering on and then start your car. After it's on, put the needle on so that it's at 0. Pull the cluster back out and reassemble it back together.

Wow, that way sounds a bit dangerous... haha.. the gauge in the neon isn't the MOST acurate out there! But as long as your atleast -/+ 3mph you should be fine

what i figured and wasnt that dangerous the third time first time was coming out my driveway, second time was down the road, third time was in work parking lot think i got it within 1 or 2 miles an hour and yeah i know bout the accuracy thing mine was reading about a mile slower than what it was and that was before i messed with it lol

that im not sigh.... (in the military) so its hard to find time to do those kind of major mods plus i'm still trying to find a donor car locally i figured that way is easier than a junk yard, even though ive gotten a good qoute from one junk yard for a working mtx setup for only 500 bucks, and thats with all the neccessary peices including the cross member and all that good stuff

if you still cant fix the problem how das said then it might be sumthing else.....

the needles are very touchy, if the paint is too thick it might be rubbing the needle sumwhere, or there might be a lip where you taped it off and it might be rubbing on that....just a thought
