my wife dring the atx
atx > 198,000 miles, sohc head/dohc block, 95 cam
r/t > 90,000 miles, short shifter, F1 stage 1 clutch, otherwise stock

2.5 car lengths you say. Seeing as a sohc runs a 16.2 stock, and the dohc runs a 15.7 stock, the distance of 2.5 lengths would put the sohc atx car in close proximity to a 14 sec time slip. Or course this is just speculation without a video or a time slip from either car. The condition of the r/t is certainly something to take in consideration. Very far fetched.

Default Race! Race! Race!

Hey Spud, Ghost!

Stop dragging your d#$#s in the dirt and race it out! Meet in a neutral location somewhere in OH, KY, or WV (approx 1/2 way between you guys) and show what you got!

Either way, should be one hellava hoot!

A close 2nd to a 17 sec atx sohc neon cutting beating a 15sec mtx dohc neon with dohc pistons. Driver error?

The neon I am building it too far out of stock specs to even be comparable. What is the point of meeting?! This is the age of technology. I'd borrow my friend device that can record a 1/4 time and dyno. More ideal than a 6hr ride over a minor intarw3b tiff.

Yeah. Technology is great, but using that same technology, I can make a two-seater bicycle beat a Ferrari in a 1/4 race! It is way too easy to fake results, and you wouldn't believe him anyway - as testimony, I reveal your comments in this thread that basically call him a liar.

Face to face baby! Mano-a-mano! Two men up, one man rules.
Nothing like it! That is why NASCAR and the NHRA are such big time businesses. You can put technology out the wazoo in a car, but a good driver can still beat you.

I have seen a blown Chevy Vega with a V8 kick the S$$$ out of a 68 Camaro on a 1/4 track personally. The Vega got off the line so fast and was so far ahead by the time the Camaro wound up to full speed that even though it was close at the end, the Vega still won.

His story may very well be correct.. The r/t could have a slipping clutch, could have spun on the launch, poor driving skills, drove the wrong way during the race. A 15 sec car can loose to a 17 sec car by 2-3 car lengths. Just saying there is more to the story that "we race and the atx took off low WOAH!" It is a stock 95 sohc with dohc pistons. A .4 bump in compression does not shave 3+ seconds off your time slip. Period.

You misread what is being said here. This was not the "my car is faster than your car" conversation. It is the "your story does not make sense" conversation. With bolt ons, n/a mtx sohc neons peak around mid to low 14's. Can got further with major work. Does it make senne that a .4 raise of compression would take a 3-speed neon from 17's to 14's? The atx car ran a bit better most likely, but not good enough to put 3 car lengths on a 15 sec car. That puts it well into the 14's. It's the r/t that is the weak link in the story, between the car and the driver.
