i pushed my poor neon inside my garage today
my dad thinks its the headgasket and possibly the water pump
hopefully...
so by sunday it'll be fixed most likely

so now i've been driving my 63 bug
REAR WHEEL DRIVE!
i drifted in it in my old high school's parking lot with it
i felt like a bad *** hahahah
the only cool thin about that car is that is rear wheel drive
everyone points at it and says "HERBIE!"
because it's white
and the same exact year as herbie
whatever
i drift in it hahahaha


until my baby is fixed

 

i would love to have me an old bug....or better yet a microbus

 

hahah yea...


so this morning we took apart the engine...
when we turned the crank pulley, the other pulleys werent turning
so we took the cover off all the pulleys adn all these metal shards came down
the belt was shreded at point part
and then my dad took it off
we looked at the water pump
and a chunk of the water pump pulley had broken and shattered off
we knew that would have to be replaced
we were hoping it was it so we took the head off
the head gasket was almost perfectly fine
the only thing was it was leaking at 1 part
everything else was fine!

GREAT!
all we have to do is get a new water pump
get a new gasket kit
get a new cover since we accidently broke it
get a new belt
time everything
and my engine is back to normal!

we call dodge and they dont have the water pump
and it's a 3 week wait for the delivery
and my dad won't even be here and won't be back until december

so when i got home from work we put the neon in the backyard

so theres a 90% chance it will never be driven again

unless we get another engine
fix it in like 6 months
or i get another neon which would be a DOHC



this sucks...hahahaha

 

you better check the valves to make sure they are sealed, 99% of the time you have a timing componet come unglued like that it bends valves, you'll hate yourself for putting it back together just to run on 2 or 3 cylinders

 

we opened them a little cause we were getting hte cam gear off and turned the gear

but other than the water pump/gasket/belt
nothing was wrong with the engine at all

we most likely won't fix it

 

I have a brand new water pump... if you want it i can let it go (i hate to see or hear of a neon thats dead) 40 bux shipped

 

yea but remember it was running when it came apart, the cams will always stop before the crank, and if theres open valves and a piston all the way up they kiss pretty hard and bend them, where are you from again?

they are all down

the last time the car died that day
i turned it off
after turning it off it wouldn't turn back on

and thanks fot he offer on the water pump, hahaha

it would have been done today if we could have gotten it
but my dad won't be home for a weekend until december
so even if we get the pump
he's going to take his precious time doing it
which means it'll never get fixed

i was looking at a red 4 door r/t for 2500
but i dont have the money
and he wont buy it
