well... my CEL came on today while driving in the rain on the freeway , and i figured it was hydrolock , or coming close to it...

so i took it to Advance , they obd'd meh , and lo and behold , its my frigg'n egr valve... its not getting good flow.
they said to take it off and try to clean it with brake parts cleaner.
any helpful tips?

Try cleaning it as suggested. If that doesn't work, I have a good used one I could sell ya.

anyone heard of cleaning an egr valve?? i just want to see if this is going to screw it up worse... i know its already f'd up , but it still runs , so i am hoping not to pay the 100$ for a new egr ...

EDIT :: das , i didnt even see your post , my bad... so youve heard of cleaning it? how much for the used one? i may need it overnighted if possible....

if a new one doent cost that much, u should just replace it instead of taking the chance of messing it up, cleaning it with brake fluid...

 

They cost about $90 from the dealer and that cheaper than autozone.

and yeah , autosone wanted 100 for just the valve , the transducer was 45$...no idea what the dealer around here wants

When I got a code for my egr valve I took my tb apart and got a new tps, and the code went away...idk if it will work for you

 

If you can guarantee it won't spoil by time it gets to me [:'(]
