Default my new Ride (1999 Neon DOHC)

hi to all , im new to posting here

i just purchased a 1999 neon 4 door automatic , dohc , with 118,490 miles on it , not a lick of rust on the car the motor seems pretty sound , nice and quite also , i purchased it from a cop (lol ) on things it needs when i bought it a week ago was a power steering belt which i fixed , a sunroof motor that i havent got to doing yet and on the exhaust manifold one of the bolts are broke of flush at the head ( what do you recommend ) or leave it alone ? i dont see smoke coming from there , and thats all that is wrong with it , it has brand new egr , brand new tires , exhaust , brakes , rotors , and few other normal things new on it ,

any suggestions on what to look out for or if i got a good deal or anything would be of much help because this is my very first neon and i dont know much about them , but i am very mechanically inclined to do the repiars though ,

so any help would be of great help , thank you to all that responde to me and ill be putting up pics in a few days ,,,,,, , thank you .

Neons are pretty common for oil leaks, so thats one thing you should watch out for, the rear mail seal-which is a gasket between the engine and transmission, and possibly the oil pan gasket. another thing is the timing belt and water pump. since you car has over 100k miles, you should look into replacing that if it hasnt already been done. my timing belt popped at about 124k miles & it caused bent valves and a warped head, and had to get it replaced. I suggest taking it to a local shop and telling them you just purchased a car and you want to know if everythings ok.

timing belt replacement would be a very good idea......i didnt replace mine until 150,000 miles...but it didnt brake....either way once you hit 100,000 miles your just gambling with your motor

find a mtx

you might as well get an aftermarket exhaust manifold if you want!

just go to a junkyard
you'll find a lot of stuff there
for like 1/100 of hte price

mtx is a manual transmission.....it is just a suggestion incase you wanna give car car more pep......
if you just want a good gas friendly comfortable driving car then you should just do the routine maintance to the car...bt if you wanna ever make it faster then just post it up and we will give you alot of suggestions
