Is it possible for a headlight to slowly go out? I mean, they seemed to be brighter before, then last night I was driving home and it seemed like they weren't even on. I actually pulled over because I thought that they had both blown out. My wife was in front of me and she said that when my high beams were on they looked like low beams and my low beams looked like they were barely working. I know that they are a little hazy from being old but I never noticed it like this before.

 

my lights were like that for a while but it was only because the lenses were dirty

 

take it azone, and have hem check your alternator

 

was it wet outside?????

 

Weak battery can cause the lights to dim and/or the alternator not charging correctly. Also, make sure they are plugged in all the way.

 

one of mine ended up dimming a bit and i found out that it was because the bulb sockets were starting to go bad......after i replaced the sockets they were fine

 

test your alternator, battery, and your sockets. mine had the same problem.

 

if the sockets look burnt then you can get new ones from wal-mart for about $4.00

 

It was raining, now that you mention it. Can I do some kind of load test or something for the alternator?

 

yes, my sockets went bad one time cause i had a to high of a wattage bulb in there i dont remember what but it slightly melted the wire just as it enters the socket been like that for a year i just ahve a rag stuffed in there that keeps the connection. i keep forgetting to get them at the junk yard when i go
