speed limiter
where is the speed limiter located in the neon? i hate that my car pretty much stalls when i hit 115...then goes back to normal when i get under 100. is it in the PCM? if so, getting the mopar would eliminate the speed limiter? it kinda sux cause when i turbo my car its better to go with the stock PCM because of the timing increase the Mopar PCM does..what a predicament....[&:]
well unfortunatelly... yes the speed limiter is in the ecm. see, the computer reads the signal from the speed sensor and when it hits 120 it should retard the ignition back to about 110. at least thats what mine does. fortunetly you can go to a certified mopar reflash specialist and have that removed. ive heard rumors of "black boxes" that can be wired in to fool the computer into believing that your speed is only at 110 any time you go over it, but i have yet to actually see the product myself ( but i also have not looked for it ).
Thats Odd - I run my Neon at 120mph+ all of the time.
after 120mph - my car looses umphhhh to keep pushing and I run out of straight away to keep pushing!
My Neon is a factory stock neon.
Where did you read/find anything about box to fool it? Very Curious to know.

The speed limiter is 118 MPH for all neons, except for the R/T and ACR which are governed at 130 MPH. The 95 ACR has no speed limiter.
You can get an ACR or R/T PCM when you get the turbo.

or a simple switch inline with the vss would work to toggle it on or off. Though its probably illegal anyways, and its probably illegal to travel at those speeds it works on almost any car with a vss and electronic cluster. Itll drop the speedo to 0 and youll probably get a CEL, but it can be done for less than a dollar
