this car is pissing me off
if i cant get it running right then i will probally sell all the turbo stuff i have.....or sell the whole car[:@]
its not that bad, but im getting anxious to drive it....turbo or not...
so here are the problems:
the car is throwing a few codes....
1 about the map sensor voltage too high or too low....
1 for sum map sensor vauum sumthing or another
and another about the IAT sumthing....
i dont remember the codes exactly, and oddly enough it isnt throwing a code for the downstream 02 sensor even though there isnt one hooked up
but anyways here are the problems,
when i turn the ignition on, the fuel pressure gauge reads 40psi.....once i start the car, the gauge slowly moves down to 0 psi....but if i disconnect the gauge, then gas sprays everywhere....whats the deal????
when i turn the adjuster screw on the top of the regulator, the car doesnt run any differently and the gauge doesnt move.....
with the map clamp disconnected, the car runs the best....but still runs kinda rough when you hit the gas....
i cant seem to adjust the map clamp to make any difference.....you can turn the adjuster screw all day and nothing change...
if the car sits for a while, you can start it up and it idles great....and you can romp on it a little.....but after a minuite or so, everytime you hit the gas, the car boggs down and wants to die.....sumtimes you can even hear it pop and backfire through the air filter....
sumone said that sum of the causes of these problems might be because of having 2 fuel pumps on the car.....and possibly since i am running the fuel through the stock regulator on the intake pump....then from there it goes to the external.....does this sound like it could be the problem???? to me it kinda makes sense, but i dont wanna rip the pumps off and re-run all the lines and it not be the cause

sounds about right, burps and farts from running lean, not good. why have it hooked up to your stock fpr? do you have a rrfpr or just a basic upgraded fuel regulator? also, what turbo is it? is it a kit or you make it yourself? i think the problem you are having, or at least one of them, is running lean. do you have a wideband or anything to monitor your a/f?
Spud, any time you put a turbo on a car, you have to get it tuned... I am sure if you do enough research on how to do it you can figure it out.. Thats what it sounds like to me, though
I know when i was reading about boosting mine i was confuzzled about the map clamp. Try to find out more about the map clamp, and mabye do away with the second fuel pump, the stock fuel pump i heard was good for about 7-10 psi of boost, so untill your making BUTTLOADS of boost i would run stock pump. Just my two cents, DONT GIVE UP!!!
ok, i know it has to get tuned.....but if it wont even run decent, then how can i tune it???????
i made the turbo kit from misc. srt4 parts that ive gathered over the past few monthes....
i have an srt4 turbo/manifold, mopar BOV, srt4 stock cat, AGP wastegate, aeromotive 13105 ragulator, 1/4in. fuel return line and some other things and the stock injectors(for now)
there is also a walbro 255lph in the tank and a wlabro 255lph inline thats mounted under the spare tire well....
i am just running from the stock regulator off the pump and then the aeromotive regulator under the hood because i was told that it was ok to do it that way......but i have been checking out the spoolboy mod setup, which ive been considering, but i am confused on a couple parts....
i dont have a wideband yet, but later down the road i plan on getting one....all i have is the air/fuel gauge hooked up to the stock 02 sensor....i know that doesnt do any good, but i just really got it so that i could fill up the 3rd hole in the gauge pod....but 1 of the lean lights is lit up, all of the stoichs, and all of the rich....
i just dont understand why the fuel pressure gauge slowly moves to 0psi and howcome i cant adjust the fuel pressure from the regulator thats under the hood[&:]
today if i have time, im gonna unhook the external fuel pump and just run the feed line off the 255 intake pump and stock regulator....then i can atleast see if thats the cause of the problem.....
some of this also seems to be from the map clamp......when i have the map clamp unhooked, the car idles fine....for awhile...but once i hook it up, it starts having problems quicker then without it......but no matter how i adjust the clamp, nothing makes a difference

find a decent shop with a dyno they should be able to help you through it. its the only way to get it perfect.

i havent had any luck finding a shop with a dyno that is within reasonable driving distance.....(within 100 miles)
ok so check this out,
i disconnected the external fuel pump and just hooked up the intake one like it would be if the car was stock.....
now, you can hear the intank pump priming itself when you turn on the ignition....but no fuel gets to the engine.....
i sat in the car for about 20 minuites turning the key on and off......the fuel gauge never moved above 0psi....and when i disconnect the return line from the fuel rail, no gas comes out....
so now i assume the problem is with the intank pump......tomorrow im gonna rip out the pump and take it all apart....hopefully i will find sumthing that is wrong[&:].....but atleast i was able to isolate the problem....
