ok well i just got new front speakers..but i cant seem to get the handle for the windows to come off...i also cant get the locking mech. to come off so that i can remove the interior piece. how the heck do u get it off and how do u get the window handle off??

 

take a fork, yes fork, and bend the two inner prongs down flat, then, place the fork behind the crank handle and there is a little u shaped retainer clip that needs to be pushed out, then the handle will come off. i know, crude but it works. then, once that is off, pull the door panel to unclip it from the door, be careful not to pull it completely away from the door. if you do, you will break your interior door handle. you will see what to do from there.

 

i was thinking there was a clip...but i couldn't find it anywhere!

 

its real hard to see, but you can if you look and pry real carefully.

 

And be careful because it will fly off. There is a $2 or $3 tool you can get to help remove it.

 

easy fix to not losing the clip is to hold a magnet by the crank so when it does go, it will go right to the magnet of a speaker, or whatever you use.

 

i bought that tool, cost a few bucks...but it works pretty good...just slide it behind the window crank..give it a good push and it will come right off.

 

yeah, they do make a tool for it, waste of money tho unless you really like to take your door panels apart. i have one at the shop here, but i can never find it. i alwas have my fork in my box tho.

i still go by the washcloth method...hasnt let me down yet...
i have been hit in the head a few times with those clips...and once in the eye....so be careful
