Default Tire Siping

Anybody ever heard or done this? I did a little research on the internet and found a bunch of companies that offer it, but can't find any people that have had it done. It looks like it would be worth it if it doesn't cost too much. Heres a link if you have never heard of it. There is a video to click on at the bottom. http://www.kaltire.com/retail/services/siping.php#

Seems to help traction, keeps my tires from spinning somehow. I really didn't care for it at first because I had doubts about putting cuts into my tires, but the tire dealer didn't charge me anything when I got my tires replaced. So, I went with it. I think they charge around $45 on top of the price of the tires.

I've seen sum ppl do that in races, dirt or track. when it starts to rain or snow they cut into their tires makin more tread.

Irace dirt track and ive hacked DOT tires to hell to make them grip the dirt since thats all were allowed to use, and it works good, like was mentioned it reduces the life
its fun taking $82 a piece toyo proxes T1-R's and cutting the tread all to ****.

Maybe I'll sipe my used tires and have a good set for the summer. I have to drive through the snow to get to work, but it's only for two months out of the year usually. Then I won't shorten the life span of new tires. Thanks for the info guys.

Here is what my tire guy told me...

its not recommended for street tires. its mostly used for truck/suv tires.it basically cuts more lines in the tread/tire.

How about in my situation where you have to drive in a little snow and ice sometimes? I live 12 miles from work and usually the last 3 miles have snow or ice in the winter.

ive driven my car in the snow and ice alot.....i drive about 180miles a day for work now and last year i had to drive in a bad ice storm......just get some good tires and you will be fine....
i put full coverage on my car every winter too....except lately i keep the full coverage on.....
