too much time

 

honestly, a regular cheap 3/4 mdf sub box will cost you like 30 bucks to build, why waste the time on fiberglass boxes? I only do that for people who have too much money to waste, it doesnt really add anything. Sure it would be lighter than the wood box, but like 10x as expensive, and the time it takes to build isnt worth it. I build and tune 3/4 mdf and live by it. Use lots of screws and a good amount of wood glue and the box doesnt resonate at all. Infact, in some cases the extra weight of the wood helps it sound better for being a more rigid box. Fiberglass = for looks.

On my next system its going to be 3/4 mdf and im going to build a fiberglass front plate for the shape of the subs, thats it, just a top. Im not going to waste all my time
