mainly the best part of the dohc is the abilaty to set the timeing for the egsaust and intake differently to jump your spool time. ps dazz im gonna stay away from your town if you run into 9 sec dohc all the time.

if you plan on dressin your motor up dun expect to run 9 seconds on the quarter. I'm not sure if its doable or not but I really doubt it. dun mean to ruin your dreams, but in the end of the day its either all show an no go or vice versa. now I'm not sayin you cant dress a 12 second car. its jus if you really plan on gettin serious into drag you're gonna b addin HUGE boost toyour engine that means alotof stuff poppin outta your engine here an there that would get a lil difficult at prettying up lol altho a HUGE snail in your engine would really turn sum ppl on

 

How much money do you have to put into a neon to shave 7 - 8 seconds.

 

well im planing to beld this motor from the ground up every thing from the oil pan to the spark plug wires i was looking at eagel pistons eagel rods and rings to be abal to run a turbonew crank shaft steel head gaskit feirreo hallow stem valves new valve train duel valve springs rocker rocker arms new cam shaftmsd ignetion aem cold air in take aem fuil rail venom 550cc injectorshooker or dc headers blitz deep core radiator aem cam gear(s) unorthadockes under drive pully a new pcm dont know what kind and im thinking of a stroker kit but i think thats going to be to much work what do you guys think is this possable

Lets take a brand new MTX DOHC neon that can run mid-15's. You want to get to 7-8 seconds off of that and run 7's or 8's???? Gonna cost you about $10,000-$15,000 or more!

There is no AEM CAI anymore, they only make the WAI. You won't need bigger injectors, and your only PCM choices are AF/x and Mopar.

i didnt know that you could get hooker headers for a neon

 

where i race a DOHC gets you a checkered flag (proven at least 8 times in 06 season)
the SOHC got nothing but last in place.
although ive seen other places the DOHC does worse than a SOHC due to its extremelack oflow end torque
for drag racing DOHC would be my choice because your always revving high enough to keep in the power.
