sohc or dohc
sohc or dohc whitch is beter for racing the risson i ask is cuse im going to beld a motor from the ground up and i want to know witch is better for racing im planing on running turbo im just curious on witch head is better im open for ideas on every thing from hoses to pstons to spark plugs
in the end, both are good for drag racing. the fad for now is a stratus 2.4l block with a magnum head and intake. dont ask me, as i am sohc all the way. i will still be tearing down others in it til the day i retire. sohc are easier to tune as only 1 cam gear, put out about the same amount of power ect ect, the doh and soh blocks are the same, pistons between the 2 are different and of course the heads. if you want gobs of power, 2.4l stratus or pt cruiser engine with a magnum head i would guess.
and SOHC are a little cheaper overall. like with the DOHC u have to buy 2 cams and such so yea.

only thing that realy makes a difference in price is the 2 cams and 2 cam gears......otherwise its just the same in price.....

You can port it the plastic manifold and there is an aluminum SOHC manifold out there that we can port/polish also. SOHC people can also use the magnum head and/or intake. So we have possibilities also
